Breanna, the owner of TenderLove&Paws started pet sitting on the side back in 2020 when a mutual friend was seeking a pet sitter. She soon found herself inundated with word-of-mouth referrals, leading to a rapid influx of clients. Unable to manage the workload solo, she began enlisting additional sitters to assist with the workload. Since then, then business has experienced steady and substantial growth each year. TLP is known for overnight pet sitting, check ins and short stays. Recently TLP has expanded in the dog bakery industry as well as merchandise for pet owners and their fur babies.
Question: What inspired you to start your business?  I grew up with pets in my home my entire life and always wanted to do something with dogs. I would joke about having a dog farm so I could have as many dogs as I wanted to play with and take care of. Then the opportunity presented itself to dog sit and the referrals kept coming so it was the perfect time to make my dream come true of working with dogs and making a business of it.
Question: What advice would you give someone considering hiring a pet sitter? Communication is key!! This goes for the client and sitter. Clients need to provide any and all information about the pets. Any routines, feeding schedules, walking schedules, treats (how often, what kind) where to sleep, any habits good or bad of the pet, anything to look out for or be cautious of, vet information. The list goes on. Make sure the pet sitter is working with a business that is insured and both the sitter and business have years of experience.
Question: Do you have a story about a time you went above and beyond for a client? There has been several times clients needed me very last minute or needed to extend their time. My clients know they can get ahold of me at any time of day and their pets will always be taken care of as that is my first priority
What are you most passionate about in pet sitting? Making sure the pet is comfortable and taken care of. That is the absolute number 1 priority. Each pet has their own unique personality. They are not all the same. It’s fun to get to know each pet and their personalities. You have to be able to do that and get a read from the pet in order to gain their trust. Pets are amazing and are always just so happy to have someone around
What’s next for TLP? We are still growing by adding more sitters to TLP. We also have merchandise for pet owners as well as pet products on our website and have recently dived into dog bakery making healthy homemade treats. More to come on fun events!
