Pool Filter Pump We recommend that you run your pool pump around 10-12 hours per day during summer and 6-8 hours per day during winter. Note that you might need to run your pool pump longer during summer because algae grow more in warm temperatures.
Pool Cleaner/Pump We recommend that you run the pools cleaner only for 2-4 hours a day and then it should be turned off so that any dirt or debris that was stirred up can settle again.
Pool Skimmers We recommend that you empty the skimmer basket at least once or twice a week between our visits. If there's a lot of debris in the pool especially when we have windy and rainy days, it's a good idea to check and empty the skimmer daily. A clogged skimmer basket can reduce water flow, cause cloudy water or algae issues and the pump may start sucking air which can damage the pump, valves and plumbing.
Water Level A pool's water level should be halfway up the pool skimmer's opening. This allows the skimmer to efficiently pull debris from the pool's surface. If the water level is too high, it can cover the skimmer entirely, preventing it from cleaning the water effectively. If the water level is too low, the skimmer won't be able to trap debris, and the pump may start sucking air and that reduces water flow, cause cloudy water or algae issues, and may even damage the pump, valves and plumbing.
Weather High temperatures can lead to increased bacterial and algae growth, even with proper chlorine levels. Rain can be acidic which can cause pH levels to drop. However, rain can also cause pH levels to rise, which can make chlorine less effective.
